Who is it for?

Save Override can be useful for almost anyone who plays games on PC. But for some games — and some players — it makes a much bigger difference.

At the simplest level, it’s a cloud save manager. Think Steam Cloud or GOG Cloud, except it also works with games those services don’t support and keeps older versions of your saves instead of only the latest one.

Games with no cloud saves

This is the obvious one.

Maybe it’s an indie game. Maybe it’s open source, emulated, heavily modded, or simply old enough that cloud saves were never added.

Whatever the reason, Save Override watches the save files, backs them up, and makes them available on your other computers.

You shouldn’t have to lose a hundred-hour save because a game never got Steam Cloud support.

Games with one save slot or aggressive autosaves

Some games give you one save slot and expect you to live with every decision.

Others autosave constantly, happily overwriting the checkpoint you actually wanted to keep.

Save Override keeps a versioned history every time the game updates its saves. So even when the game only shows one save, you can still go back to an earlier version.

Made the wrong choice? Hit a broken quest? Installed a mod that wrecked the save? Go back to before it happened.

Developers, testers, studios, and streamers

Sometimes a save isn’t just progress. It’s a useful game state.

You might need to reproduce a bug, test the same encounter again, record a scene, compare different outcomes, or return to a specific point without replaying several hours.

Save Override keeps those moments around so you can get back to them later.

Down the road, you’ll also be able to share saves with teammates or friends. That could mean sending someone a broken save to debug, handing off a specific test state, or letting a friend pick up from the same point.
