Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: June 23, 2026
This is the short list of things we ask you not to do with Save Override. It’s referenced from our Terms of Service.
What we don’t police
Before we get to what’s prohibited, here’s what we explicitly don’t prohibit — because we get asked:
- How you play your games. Single-player save scumming, redoing boss fights, undoing bad decisions, exploring every dialogue branch — go for it. That’s literally what we built this for.
- Game mods. Modded saves are saves. Back them up, restore them, share them with friends who run the same mods.
- Save editing. If you want to edit your save with a third-party tool and then back up the edited version, that’s your business.
- Sharing saves with friends. If you want to send your Elden Ring +5 starting save to a friend, do it. That’s a feature.
- Backing up saves from games you’ve moved on from. Your save, your call.
- Reverse-engineering for personal use or security research. We’d rather you just talk to us at security@save-override.com for security research, but we don’t ban you from looking under the hood.
You don’t need our permission for any of these. We’re listing them because we know the gaming-software space is full of EULAs that try to dictate how people play, and we want to be clear we’re not doing that.
What we do prohibit
Don’t abuse the cloud service. Specifically:
- No bots, scrapers, or automation acting in place of a real user. Save Override is for humans backing up their saves while they play. If you write a script that opens 10,000 accounts and fills them with junk, or that hammers our API to scrape data, you’re going to get stopped.
- No bulk uploads unrelated to your own gameplay. Don’t use us as a generic file-storage service. We optimize for game saves; everything else is misuse.
- No attempts to disrupt the service. No denial-of-service, no exploiting bugs to take other accounts offline, no probing infrastructure beyond what you’d reasonably do as a paying user.
- No accessing other people’s accounts without their permission, or using credentials that aren’t yours.
- No using Save Override to commit a crime in the jurisdictions either of us live in. This one is rare, but it’s worth saying.
That’s the list.
What happens if you cross the line
We don’t believe in surprise account terminations for things you didn’t know were a problem. So here’s the escalation:
- Warning and a soft rate limit. First time we detect abuse, we email you a heads-up and slow down requests from your account so the abuse stops automatically. If it was unintentional or you didn’t know, that’s usually the end of it.
- Hard rate limit. If the abuse continues, we tighten the limit further. You can still log in and use the product like a normal user; you just can’t do the abusive thing.
- Suspension. Continued or severe abuse gets the account suspended — read-only, no new uploads, no API access beyond viewing.
- Termination. Persistent abuse, or a single serious incident (an attack on the service, fraud, illegal use), results in account termination. The data lifecycle rules in Terms of Service §9 take over from there.
Appeals
You can appeal any of the above at any step by emailing appeals@save-override.com. A real human will read it. We don’t always reverse the decision, but we always read the appeal and reply.
Reporting abuse
If you see someone else abusing the service, or you think a shared save is being used to harass someone, email abuse@save-override.com.
