Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 13, 2026
This policy covers what data Save Override collects, how it’s used, and your rights.
Prefer plain language? The same story, told less formally, lives in our privacy post.
Client Software (what is running on your computer)
- Save Override works by monitoring for changes to your game save files. Only where you point it to. We do not monitor other files or anything else on your system.
- Save Override’s client software collects no analytics at all — no telemetry, no usage tracking, no crash reporting.
- If you hit a problem, you can choose to send us your log files to help us diagnose it. That only ever happens when you start it yourself — we never collect them automatically.
Web Service (what is running on our servers)
- We store your login credentials (email, hashed password) and data about games you monitor and save; this is the service we provide, and only data we need, no more.
- Account activity is logged only as needed to operate accounts and detect abuse.
- We log user activity only to ensure the health of the system. User is identified only by user id and no other personal information.
- We do log more info like IP and email for suspicious security events, like failed logins.
- If we suspect account abuse, we may enable additional logging for the affected account for a limited period; the account holder is notified by email.
Storage and security
- Your save snapshots are stored in cloud storage.
- Data is encrypted in transit.
- Stored data is protected by access controls — only you and users you share saves with can access them.
- Our systems will access your data only to verify integrity and backup purposes.
Your data
- Our policy is that you own your data.
- Full account deletion isn’t available yet in early access. We’re committed to having it in place — letting you permanently remove your account and everything in it — by the time Save Override reaches full release.
Website (these pages, not web service)
- No cookies are set and no client-side tracking scripts run.
- Server logs are used to aggregate high level metrics like “visitors from country”, “referring sites”, “most-viewed pages”.
Third-party services
- No data is shared with advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.
- Separately from our own logs, our hosting provider keeps its own request logs for 3 days. They contain anonymised IP (masked with 255.255.255.0) — see their logging documentation.
Changes
We will update this page if our data practices change. Material changes will be announced on the blog and Discord.
